Omnicom Group splits with industry on NYC diversity settlement

The world's largest advertising holding company is not participating in a signed settlement between New York City and agencies from WPP Group, Interpublic Group and Publicis Groupe regarding diversity in hiring; instead, it is charting its own way, with a pledge in excess of $2 million to support diversity in advertising education and hiring. The New York City Human Rights Commission forced the issue of diversity in advertising by threatening to hold public hearings during Advertising Week.
