Textbook costs squeeze Hawaiian schools

Although the Hawaii Legislature has appropriated $4.5 million over the past two years for new math and science textbooks, the funding may not stretch far enough to allow all schools to provide new books to every student. Schools that don't get funding will have to make tough trade-offs if they decide to tap their own budgets to purchase new books.
