Online sales have jumped from $52.9 billion in 2003 to $122.7 billion last year, according to research. Many retailers now view the Web as a business necessity to stay competitive and maintain sales. "I would say my business is one-third walk-in, one-third by phone, and one-third Internet-driven," a retail store owner said. "You have to have an Internet presence today, if not to sell your goods, to promote your business."
