DOT makes commuter-airline safety a top priority

At the Federal Aviation Administration's safety forum, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said that the top aviation-safety priority of the Obama administration is to improve training for commuter-airline pilots. Safety issues revealed after the February crash near Buffalo "astounded" most passengers, he said. "I don't think the flying public understood" those issues, he said, and "we think it's our role at DOT to step up quickly."
