The manager of Frederick Municipal Airport recalls the eerie silence of the airport eight years ago on Sept. 11, 2001. Charlie Abell closed the general aviation airport in Frederick, Md., immediately after watching a television report on the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. The airport reopened on Thursday of that week after consultants analyzed its safety.
