The increasing number of dramas on cable, premium and broadcast TV channels, as well as Netflix and other emerging platforms, has led to a shortage of qualified writers and showrunners, panelists said at an industry event. There may be as many as 168 dramas in production, and the talent is stretched so thin that it is leading to more comedies being developed, said John Landgraf, CEO of FX Networks and FX Productions.
