Curiosity breaks new driving-distance record

The Mars rover Curiosity took its longest journey yet as it heads to Mount Sharp, traveling 464 feet to examine a heap of rocks called Waypoint 1. "We were able to extend the drive well beyond what we could see by enabling the rover's onboard hazard avoidance system," said rover mission planner Jeff Biesiadecki.
