IPad questionnaire is effective screening tool, study says

Giving patients an iPad questionnaire while they are waiting to see a doctor can encourage them to report unhealthy behaviors and mental health issues, New Zealand researchers reported in the Annals of Family Medicine. The study analyzed the "electronic Case-finding and Help Assessment Tool" or eCHAT, which researchers said improves the "potential for clinicians to accurately identify patients' needs around such sensitive mental health issues as depression, domestic violence, and alcohol or illicit drug use."
