Levee is needed to guard La. parish, residents and officials say

A potential plan to elevate or purchase more than 1,500 homes and other structures in Louisiana's St. James Parish as part of an $881 million project received opposition from residents at a hearing Tuesday. Parish officials have said they want levee protection as part of the Army Corps of Engineers project.
