NPD: Mobile is catching up to consoles, PCs for gaming

More than half of mobile-device owners are now spending more time playing games on their devices than two years ago, devoting an average of seven hours a week, compared with five hours a week in 2011, according to The NPD Group. The market research firm also notes that while consoles and PCs remain the leading game platforms, smartphones and tablet computers are rapidly catching up in terms of usage.
