Global stock gains took a breather as President Barack Obama announced that his administration's push for military action against Syria would be put on hold in light of Russia's plan to put Syria's stockpile of chemical weapons under international control. Sell-offs in oil and government debt reduced as the markets factored in the decreased geopolitical risk.
