Taiwan issues rabies vaccine reminders after canine case surfaces

After a puppy in Taiwan contracted rabies in an attack by a ferret-badger, officials have issued a reminder to pet owners to have animals vaccinated. Sixty percent of the island's 1.5 million pets have been vaccinated for rabies, which was identified in 124 ferret-badgers and one shrew last spring, marking the first evidence of the virus on the island since 1959.
