DTC genetic testing industry rapidly expanding

The direct-to-consumer genetic testing market is rapidly expanding and largely unregulated, with about two dozen companies now offering tests. Critics say the tests are unproven, however, and the Federal Trade Commission recently warned consumers that some tests "lack scientific validity and others provide medical results that are meaningful only in the context of a full medical evaluation."
