Overweight trucks damaging U.S. highways

The common practice of some states of granting permits to allow overweight trucks to take to the roads is taking a big toll in weakening steel and concrete on the nation's highways, some experts say. More than a half-million overweight trucks are granted such permits, and analysts say the trend could have played a role in the collapse of a Minneapolis bridge on Aug. 1 that killed 13 people.
