Senate approves $1B for nation's bridge repair

The Senate has approved a bill to spend $1 billion to accelerate the repair and replacement of deteriorating bridges. The bill, if approved, would boost funding for bridge repair in 2008 by 20%, but the nation faces a $65 billion backlog in bridge repairs identified by the Department of Transportation.
