Study tests combo of heart valve, lower dose of blood thinners

U.S. scientists are conducting an FDA-approved study to test the safety and efficacy of using lower dosages of anti-coagulants in patients with a mechanical heart valve from On-X Life Technologies. The On-X device may become the first heart valve approved for patients taking lower doses of blood-thinning drugs and could help improve quality of life, one of the researchers said.
