Chinese companies race to build propane-dehydrogenation plants

A growing number of Chinese companies are building propane-dehydrogenation plants as China's demand for propylene is expected to increase by 6% annually. The economic viability of building PDH plants in the country is yet to be determined, given that China may need to import propane. However, experts predict that China will have sufficient supply of LPG for petrochemical use because of the emergence of LPG alternatives such as natural gas and dimethyl ether for domestic consumption.
