How General Electric recycles old refrigerators

Recycling refrigerators is a tricky business because stripping out insulation is slow and costly, and it releases greenhouse-gas emissions. General Electric and Appliance Recycling Centers of America might have the answer: an enclosed recycling facility where fridges can be disassembled without allowing emissions to escape. The companies have team up to build a cutting-edge recycling plant that is expected to annually process about 900,000 refrigerators and other household appliances.
