Study: Upfront promises boost ethical behavior

Asking people to promise that they'll behave ethically increases their positive behavior significantly more than requiring them to sign a retroactive affirmation of ethical compliance, researchers say. The finding could help boost honesty in trust-based self-reporting situations such as filing expense reports, insurance claims and taxes.
