DHS seeks to use TWIC for screening chemical-plant workers

The Department of Homeland Security said Tuesday that it plans to use the existing Transportation Worker Identification Credential program as the screening process for securing high-risk chemical facilities. Most employees are already certified through TWIC, said industry groups, including the American Chemistry Council. The DHS proposal is likely to be sent for White House approval and submitted for public comments next month, said DHS Undersecretary Rand Beers.
