Better use of laws may bolster diabetes management

A few laws give partial support for guidelines on diabetes screening and preventive services, and some support guidelines regarding metformin use and lifestyle intervention, a study showed. Researchers also found 42 states and the District of Columbia require coverage for certain diabetes services. The results in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine suggest health care providers and legislators can take advantage of laws to boost diabetes care, researchers said.
