Don't use 9/11 as a promotional tool

A golf course in Verona, Wis., wound up with egg on its face after offering a nine-hole round of golf for $9.11 in honor of Sept. 11. Other companies, including a New York health club group and an Idaho casino, have had similar problems offering themed discounts. "Most promotions are in conjunction with celebrations. This was done with the remembrance of a tragedy," says pricing consultant Rafi Mohammed of the golf course.
