DOT: Freight TSI up 2.4% in July; rail imports from Mexico also up

The volume of freight transported by for-hire carriers, including railroads, increased 2.4% in July year-over-year, according to the Department of Transportation's freight transportation services index. The index also registered a 0.3% gain, compared with the June level, DOT noted. Meanwhile, the U.S. imported $3.7 billion worth of goods from Mexico in June -- a 10.8% increase.
