Honolulu gets OK to resume work on $5.3B rail project

Construction of Honolulu's $5.3 billion rail project will restart next week, after a pair of key measures was approved by the City Council. Work on the project had been halted for more than a year due to a Hawaii Supreme Court ruling that required an archaeological inventory survey to be conducted all at once rather than in phases. "The Council's actions will allow us to get back to work and to keep the project on time and on budget, and that's good news for taxpayers," said Dan Grabauskas, executive director of the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation. However, challenges remain.
