Investors are warned to scrutinize financial planning titles

Investors shouldn't rely solely on a financial adviser's title to determine whether the person has the expertise they need, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the North American Securities Administrators Association warn. In a joint bulletin, they urge investors to pay attention to whether titles are legitimate and remind them that financial professional designations and licenses are not the same.
