Legality of Maine's drug importation law challenged by PhRMA, others

A lawsuit was filed Tuesday by PhRMA, together with several pharmacy organizations, against the state of Maine over a law that authorizes international companies to fill mail-order prescriptions. The groups said the law holds the "potential to jeopardize the safe and secure prescription medicine distribution system." The lawsuit is about drugmakers' profits, said Maine Sen. Troy Jackson, D-Allagash, a lead sponsor of the law.
