Sen. Edward Markey, D-Mass., has asked cellphone carriers for explicit details on requests they receive from local and federal government agencies to share phone records. Markey, who made a similar but more limited entreaty in 2011 as a House member, now wants to know more details about the type of information that authorities are pursuing. Markey issued his request in a letter to eight carriers on Thursday.
