Broadcasters, tech industry at odds over TV treaty

The broadcast industry is at odds with a coalition of telecoms, information technology firms and digital rights advocates over a proposed international treaty under consideration by the World Intellectual Property Organization committee. Broadcasters claim the treaty would protect them from large-scale piracy, but telecoms, the high-tech industry and digital rights groups say the proposal is too broad and would have unintended consequences.
