Study: Specialized network care can lower workers comp costs

A recent study found that a specialized network of health care providers can reduce missed work days and lower health care costs for injured workers. In the study, an occupational medical physician or specialist with experience treating workers' compensation patients coordinated the treatment and called in other network specialists to provide services. The cost of claims managed in the network was $12,500, compared with $20,400 for traditional claims.
