Buffalo to raze thousands of vacant houses

With gangs and squatters burning down hundreds of vacant houses in Buffalo, N.Y., the city's mayor is moving ahead with a plan to demolish thousands of the vacant dwellings. The boarded-up houses have deterred most investors from moving in, and under Mayor Byron Brown's $100 million, five-year plan, about 5,000, or half of all vacant houses in the city, will be razed.
