Halliburton sets sights on deepwater ventures in U.S. Gulf, Brazil

Halliburton aims to increase its profits by concentrating on deepwater oil and natural gas drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, West Africa and Brazil. The oil-services company recently signed deals with explorers for 16 deepwater rigs scheduled to arrive in the second half of 2009, Halliburton executive Tim Probert said. The company's strong deepwater portfolio is expected to "a pretty favorable impact on our business overall," he added.
