Union criticises plan to train UK government workers as teachers

A programme in London designed to train city workers as teachers has drawn only 13 participants, leading teachers unions to say the scheme was "ill thought out". Christine Blower, general secretary of the National Union of Teachers, said those workers will not have enough training to be good teachers. "This is 13 people who will be wholly inadequately trained to go into classrooms to work," she said.
