Medtronic CEO expects new devices to offset pricing pressures

Medtronic CEO Bill Hawkins said he expects an average 2% to 3% drop in medical device prices as the economic downturn affects demand and health reform initiatives intensify efforts to cut costs. Hawkins said he believes that by launching new products, especially in the field of cardiac devices, his company will be able to counteract the pricing pressures.
