Minn., N.D., Ohio rural hospitals get funding for electronic health record

Rural and at-risk hospitals in Minnesota, North Dakota and Ohio will share a $2.3 million federal grant under the Health Information Technology Economic and Clinical Health Act -- to be distributed through regional extension centers -- for the transition of their manual health records to electronic system. The grant is "aimed specifically at assisting critical access and rural hospitals with their particular needs and challenges," HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said.
