Opinion: Ban on new Minn. nuclear plants should be lifted

The time is ripe for Minnesota's lawmakers to lift the state's ban on the construction of new nuclear plants, writes Rolf Westgard. Regardless of the location or the weather conditions, nuclear reactors always supply clean, safe and reliable power. The country's nuclear plants produce 800 billion kilowatt-hours annually, which accounts for 20% of Americans' electricity demand, Westgard writes.
