Survey: Midlevel associates feel secure but unsatisfied

A survey of American law firms found that midlevel associates are no longer living in fear of layoffs -- but neither are they particularly happy in their jobs. Lawyers who survived the downturn found themselves facing heavy workloads and morale-sapping pay cuts, bringing overall job satisfaction to its lowest level since the annual survey began in 2004.
