Va. gym offers athletics training for people with special needs

A new Virginia gym offers specialized classes and athletics training for individuals with special needs. Melissa Thompson, a pediatric occupational therapist who has a 10-year-old daughter with autism, founded Elite Athletics in January and added the special-needs program with her daughter in mind. "This is the first time that I can truly say that she is able to work on her motor skills and her social skills in a relaxed setting that is not competitive," Thompson said.
