Berwick says quality improvements are starting to show

CMS Administrator Dr. Donald Berwick says that he is beginning to see some cases of health care improvements that boost quality and will lead to lower costs over time and that the focus for additional work needs to happen in an "orderly and systematic way." He says he views the changes needed to improve quality as "wedges" or categories that include overtreatment, failure to coordinate care and follow best practices, administrative burdens, and fraud and abuse.
