Body composition determines exercise needs, expert says

Exercise needs vary according to a person's body composition, which is the percentage of fat mass compared with lean body mass, exercise physiologist Kathleen Lynch said. People with higher fat mass should do cardiovascular and aerobic exercises to lose weight, while those who are slimmer need to consume enough calories before cardio exercises to prevent burning existing muscles during workouts, Lynch said.
