The Philadelphia Union, a Major League Soccer franchise now in its second year, is using social tools to boost fan engagement and increase the audience for its matches. The team uses Twitter and Facebook to promote team-related news and stages trivia contests that can be answered only by watching the team's games. "By following the gold standard set by the Union, Major League Soccer could go a long way toward pushing its way into the spotlight," Richard Elles writes.
