Animals not source of antibiotic-resistant salmonella in humans, study finds

The antibiotic-resistant salmonella found among humans in Scotland over two decades was found to be genetically distinct from salmonella collected from local animals over the same time period, suggesting that sources other than animals should be investigated in the case of an outbreak of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
