EU-U.S. trade talks are no panacea, U.S. officials say

U.S. trade officials are urging European counterparts not to view negotiations as a cure-all for Europe's economic challenges. Talks for the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership "can be a very important element of Europe's effort to get back on a path toward growth, but it's got to be only one piece of an overall growth strategy," U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman said. U.S. officials remain opposed to including financial regulation in the talks.
