Extreme looks to boost Ethernet plans with Enterasys acquisition

Extreme Networks is acquiring Enterasys Networks for $180 million. The company said the move will bolster its Ethernet-switch market strategy because it will provide users a single network operating system and flexibility in choosing a hardware platform. "We believe customers will benefit by having a single network operating system that delivers functionality across both product lines and is designed to allow customers to ... choose which hardware platform best meets their deployment needs," Extreme Networks said.
