House-approved measure aims to stop new subsidies for health coverage

A bill approved by the House would delay subsidies for lower-income people to purchase health insurance on exchanges until a verification system is in place to check recipients' eligibility. Republicans say current safeguards fall short and would allow people to get subsidies without having to adequately estimate their income. The bill is not expected to survive in the Senate.
