Maintain contact with hospice patients, oncologists recommend

It can be challenging but gratifying for oncologists to maintain communication with cancer patients after referring them to hospice, Mayo Clinic Drs. Mark Litzow and Timothy Moynihan wrote in the Journal of Clinical Oncology. Visits to a patient's home are "greatly rewarding and remembered by the family long after the patient dies," Litzow said.
