NAB dismisses political "hysteria" over retrans rules

NAB spokesman Dennis Wharton responded to a call by the American Television Alliance for legislative action on retransmission-consent rules, calling it an attempt to generate "hysteria" to achieve political ends. The only changes to retrans rules that should be considered are a mechanism to "provide consumer rebates when there is an impasse and an end to the early termination fees that would allow people to switch to another provider in the event of an impasse," he added.
