Senate panel seeks to advance housing reform by end of year

Senate banking committee Chairman Tim Johnson, D-S.D., and Sen. Mike Crapo of Idaho, the panel's top Republican, say they will hold hearings this fall in an effort to shape a housing finance reform bill that the panel could agree to by the end of the year. Jerome Lienhard, CEO of SunTrust Mortgage, said the bill by Sens. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., and Mark Warner, D-Va., which already has some backing in the Senate, "highlights all of the issues moving forward."
