Sikorsky cuts 200 hourly employees, citing rising costs

Citing cuts to defense spending and rising costs, Sikorsky Aircraft announced Thursday that the company would eliminate 200 hourly jobs. "Defense spending is decreasing, and I will continue to fight to limit the impact of smaller defense budgets on Connecticut's defense industry," said Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn. Sikorsky's workers in Connecticut will be the hardest hit, because about 50% of of the company's employees in that state are hourly.
