Jury still out on long-term benefits of low glycemic index diets

Short-term research indicates that diets that register low on the glycemic index can help reduce diabetes and heart disease in some cases, but some doctors say the best course of action is to eat an abundance of fruits, vegetables and nuts, while cutting down on the intake of foods high in starch.
