McDonald's backs childhood obesity research

McDonald's Corp. is donating $2 million to fund research by a group of biomedical scientists on preventing childhood obesity, marking the first time the chain has backed scientific research. The move follows the elimination of the chain's "Super Size" portions and an attempt to encourage a balanced lifestyle that includes physical activity.
